MAKING PHILANTHROPY A CATALYST

For transformative change

Formerly known as The Piton Foundation, Gary Philanthropy, uses its philanthropic resources to provide grants and build new ventures designed to increase opportunity for Colorado kids and families.

Inspired to help a few families in the community, we opened a door and found thousands of men, women and children behind it.  We soon realized the importance of working toward lasting solutions to help stem the growing ranks of the underserved, while working to promote community health and renewal.”

Philanthropic Ventures

As the private foundation of Gary Community Ventures, we deploy our resources toward the challenges of today, much the same way Sam and Nancy Gary did when they first launched the foundation more than 40 years ago.

As Sam once said, “in our grant-making activities, we look for opportunities to be a catalyst in the formation of ventures that combine the resources and talents of the public and private sector.”

Reimagining What’s Possible in Philanthropy

In its early years, Gary Philanthropy supported organizations such as Brothers Redevelopment, Mile High United Way, Warren Village, Children’s Hospital,  and Hope Communities received many of the first grants.

Today, reimagining and reshaping what’s possible for Colorado kids and families starts with listening, not funding. The first step of any venture is to develop a shared understanding of the barriers to opportunity that exist in our community. Then, we work alongside our community to search for the nonprofit and for-profit solutions that bend the arc of opportunity toward those who need it most.

Discover New Possibilities

Together, we will create the change our community wants to see. Whether you want to discover more about our ventures, or connect with a member of our team, we want to hear from you.
