TeRay Esquibel | Entrepreneur in Residence

TeRay Esquibel is the Executive Director of Ednium: The Alumni Collective, a non-profit organization working to mobilize public school alumni as a powerful force to change the way cities educate and reinvest in their homegrown talent. That work has included implementing and funding a new financial literacy curriculum within Denver Public Schools (DPS) and creating the Leadership Launchpad, which provides a space for individuals who attended DPS within the last 15 years to build personal and professional skills while expanding their social infrastructure.

TeRay serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Gary, where he works to inform and improve the organization’s K-12 and family economic mobility approaches. A DPS grad from Abraham Lincoln High School, TeRay was awarded the Daniels Fund Scholarship, which gave him the opportunity to attend the University of Denver. There, he dedicated himself to expanding access to higher education. After college, TeRay participated in the El Pomar Foundation Fellowship program before returning to DU as an Admission Counselor. In this role, TeRay engaged with the DPS community to increase the enrollment and retention rates for students who are underrepresented on DU’s campus.

Most recently, TeRay held the title of Partner of Community Partnerships and Advocacy at the Denver based philanthropic organization RootED. In this role, he led research, strategy and community grant making.

I would like to see business people try to solve social problems with the same imagination and energy they use to finance a factory or make a deal. Don’t call it philanthropy; call it corporate social investment. Make it integral to business.
