The Creation of Home
The Williams Family
Shamae and LeVar Williams scrambled to buy a home after their landlord decided not to renew the lease on their three-bedroom rental. With three months to move out, their search grew increasingly frantic and frustrating as they were outbid on multiple homes.
Several loan officers asked Shamae and LeVar if they could go to a family member for a loan. That wasn’t an option. Thankfully, LeVar’s brother had heard of another option: the Dearfield Fund. Between $40,000 in down-payment assistance from Dearfield and a grant from a local bank, the Williams family was able to purchase a home with enough space for their family of five.
