Director of Communications & Storytelling
Will C. Holden is a writer, producer, and communications strategist who believes powerful storytelling can measurable change behaviors, broaden perspectives and drive systems change.
As Director of Communications & Storytelling at Gary Community Ventures, he leads the organization’s Narrative Strategies for Systems Change, developing content, research and community engagement initiatives that advance policy and social change while providing Coloradans with more tools and opportunities to tell their own stories. His work includes the digital storytelling campaign for Proposition 123, which fueled the nation’s first successful statewide affordable housing ballot measure; Better Beginnings, a podcast that helped move legislators to establish the Colorado’s Department of Early Childhood; Child Care Works CO, a statewide narrative initiative engaging audiences frequently left out of the discussion on chid care; and CO.created, a collaborative multimedia platform celebrating changemakers working along Gary to increase access to opportunity for Colorado kids and families.
Before joining Gary, Will worked as a newspaper reporter, television producer, news anchor, marketing director, and digital content manager. His work has been recognized by the Heartland Emmys, Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists, Telly Awards, PRSA, and American Marketing Association.
He’s a proud husband and father of two beautiful, talkative kids, a board member with the Colorado Humanities Council, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and Truce Studios, a mayoral appointee to the Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs and a digital storytelling professor at the University of Colorado Boulder.
