Karen Lam | Director, People & HR

Karen Lam is a senior Human Resources leader with over 18 years of expertise in steering dynamic teams and implementing impactful HR initiatives across a diverse range of industries. Her career spans Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, and government entities, showcasing her versatility and strategic acumen in human resources management.

Prior to beginning her journey at Gary Community Ventures as the Director of People and HR, Karen served as the Head of Human Resources for the Denver Public Library (DPL), where she was instrumental in transforming the HR division. She played a crucial role in prioritizing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategies and implemented significant changes, including an org-wide pay equity adjustment. 

Karen’s career also includes roles at the City and County of Denver as a Senior HR Advisor/Partner, where she provided strategic & operational guidance to various agencies and at vcfo as the Senior Director of HR, where she showcased her ability to offer strategic HR guidance and coaching to multiple clients, one of which was in private equity. Her extensive experience at IntelliSource involved leading a substantial HR team and spearheading initiatives in talent management and career development.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Denver. She is an active member of the Colorado HR Executive Roundtable, reflecting her commitment to ongoing professional development and industry engagement.
