Senior Manager of People & HR

Lana Martin serves as a one-person human resources department at Gary Community Ventures, partnering closely with executive leadership to design and implement people strategies that support both organizational culture and mission impact. She leads the full spectrum of HR functions, from total rewards and compliance to leadership development and employee experience, ensuring that Gary’s team has the support and structure needed to do their best work.

With experience spanning both human resources and finance, Lana brings a unique perspective to total rewards and people operations. She believes thoughtful compensation and benefits strategies are essential tools for retaining talent and sustaining mission-driven organizations. 

At Gary, she designs programs and systems that strengthen retention, maintain fiscal stewardship, and create a workplace where employees feel supported and empowered. Lana has also helped cultivate a culture of growth and belonging by developing internal talent initiatives, including a structured interdepartmental internship program,

Before joining Gary, Lana held progressive roles in HR, payroll and benefits leadership across healthcare and technology organizations. She is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and is a candidate for Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
