Annabel is originally from Southern California, daughter to Mexican immigrants and the first in her family to attend college. She began her career in education with Denver Public Schools in the Academic & Innovation Office/Portfolio Management Team. During her time there, she gained valuable experience in administrative support and the charter authorizing process. She then moved on to work at KIPP Colorado, a nonprofit charter network focused on improving education opportunities for underserved communities. At KIPP, Annabel served as an executive assistant and special projects manager for five years. She was a member of the leadership team, supporting in various capacities that allowed her to work directly with families, school leadership and the organization’s board.
In 2021, Annabel joined the Gary Community Ventures team as the executive assistant for the Office of the President & CEO. In this role, she provides vital administrative and project support, ensuring that the executive office operates efficiently and strategically.
Outside of work, Annabel enjoys spending time biking and hiking with her daughter. She is passionate about creating impact and is an active member of her community. Her commitment to education and community empowerment is an inspiration to those who aspire to succeed despite the challenges they may face.
