Zach Martinez is a lawyer and policy professional with experience working in government, non-profit, and for-profit organizations. At Gary, Zach continues to use his cross-sector experience as the Legal Counsel for both the Policy and Ventures teams. Since joining the team, he has advised on many of Gary’s key priorities, including taking leadership roles in the passage of Proposition 123, a statewide ballot measure devoted to the creation of affordable housing with existing tax revenue, and House Bill 23-1304, a rule-setting bill to guide the execution of Prop 123.
Prior to joining Gary, Zach practiced law at an international law firm where he built an extensive portfolio of pro bono work. His cases include defending Bears Ears National Monument against a 2017 executive order attempting to downsize it and protecting voting rights in Alabama, California, Georgia, and New York City throughout the 2020 election cycle.
Zach received his JD from the Georgetown University Law Center and his MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School where he was a Fellow in the Program on Education Policy and Governance.
