Ivonne Hernandez is a talented developer on Gary’s Technology team. As a highly analytical thinker, and with a background in mathematics, Ivonne brings both her technical expertise and lived experience to the table. She has a deep understanding of the issues that Gary is working to solve for, and she is committed to maximizing the impact of the organization’s work. Her passion for social impact comes from her lived experience growing up in poverty and navigating the challenges that come with it. Ivonne’s unique perspective has been critical to the success of many of her projects, as she brings a level of empathy and understanding to her work that is hard to replicate.
As a first-generation college graduate, Ivonne understands the importance of education and its ability to change one’s life trajectory. Currently, Ivonne is working on a project called MyFriendBen, a tool designed to help Colorado families understand eligibility and apply for benefits. Her work on this project involves creating a program to calculate benefit eligibility and estimated value based on information from a short screener, as well as collaborating with Policy Engine to implement rules as code in a centralized API.
Ivonne is proficient in JavaScript, CSS, and React, and she enjoys staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the tech industry. Her ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements has been critical to the success of many of her projects.
